God always has a plan. A plan that we may not agree with but who are we to disagree with the one who gave us life? A few days ago, God took back what was his. This being Theo Smalling. Theo was a senior at my school, Hampton University and also the captain of the basketball team. Theo was ten credit hours away from receiving his BA diploma. However, Hampton University President, Dr. Harvey, so kindly rewarded Smalling's parents with the BA degree that he would have received.
The young man just turned 22 on last Friday. I still hear the voice of one of my roommates telling me how she met him on that day. She said, "oh I met theo!" "You did!! was he nice?," I asked. She happily responded, "Yes! he shook my hand and smiled while saying hi."
The reason why I was so excited is because we always said to ourselves that he resembeled the character "Goofy". So we gave him that nickname. Therefore, everytime that we saw him, that's what we would say. We loved to see Theo just because he seemed like a great person. In the words of Wendy Williams, he was a "friend in my mind" Rest in Peace, Theo. You will forever be missed!
