President Obama chosen to speak at Hampton University Commencement
President Barack Obama has agreed to speak at Hampton University’s 2010 commencement. President Obama was eager to speak at a HBCU commencement this year and once the news was released, 18 HBCUs reached out to the President with letters expressing their desire for him to speak at their college.
Out of the 18 HBCUs, the list was narrowed down to three colleges and Hampton University was selected as the lucky university. The campus is extremely eager to welcome President Obama to the University. Hampton University’s President, William R. Harvey, is preparing for the large mass of people that will be in need of a commencement ticket.
Already, the school is buzzing with excitement and hundreds of students are plotting ways to receive the ‘golden ticket.’ Hampton University’s 140th commencement will be held at the campus’ Armstrong Stadium on May 9, 2010.
